No 4: Stan Rydarowicz

My buddy Stan Rydarowicz passed away suddenly in December 2015 and I’d like to devote a post to him. I met Stan at Naperville in the mid-2000s.  Stan was buddies with Clark Propst and Chet French and Mike Moore, among others, who were also regular Naperville attendees.  In 2005 Stan attended St. Louis RPM for the first time and we talked a lot there, and thereafter I started meeting up with Clark and Stan and Chet at Naperville, Cocoa Beach and St. Louis on a regular basis.  I believe I also saw him a few times at the neat Marion, Ohio RPM. No. 3: My Stuff Arrives in Germany

We moved to Germany in November 2015.  On December 17th we moved into a rented house in a little village called Albersbach, about 15 minutes north of Ramstein Air Base where I’ll be working.   The house is pretty interesting.  It is a three story house, but each floor was originally built as a separate apartment.  We rented the whole house, so we have three kitchens, eight bedrooms, and two dens (or living rooms).  The main den and “winter garden” (what Americans would probably call a “Florida Room) and kitchen, and a few bedrooms are on the middle floor, and our three kids claimed the upstairs … Continue reading No. 3: My Stuff Arrives in Germany

No. 2: Modeling on the Road

When we moved to Germany in 2015 I sent most of my hobby supplies with our household goods (they went by ship) and stored a half a crate’s worth of books, railroadiana and keepsakes in the St. Louis area.  I also set aside a small tool kit and a few models in my luggage so I could get some work done while we lived in temporary quarters on the road. No. 1: Introducing The RPM Blog

Welcome to my blog, The Railroad Prototype Modeler.  I chose the name because I am an “RPMer”, and the RPM title also hints to my association with the St. Louis Railroad Prototype Modeler’s Meet.  I hope you enjoy reading and participating.
